Ferme d'Hougoumont stands at Braine-l'Alleud, in Walloon Brabant, Belgium. Documented since at least the 15th century, the farm was the site of a battle within the Battle of Waterloo: Allied troops held the walled farm against repeated French assaults throughout the day of 18 June 1815, tying down a large share of Napoleon's forces and helping determine the outcome. Classified as a protected monument by the Walloon heritage authority since 15 June 1938, the farm underwent restoration and reopened to the public in 2015.
